Mount Kongo
Mt. Kongo, 1,125 meters above sea level, is the main peak of the Kongo mountain range that runs north to south along the border between Osaka and Nara prefectures. It is popular as a mountain that is easy to access and can be easily visited from the city. From the top, you can see the Kansai International Airport floating in Osaka Bay and, if the weather is good, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge.
Katsuragi
The Katsuragi area, spread out in the eastern foothills of the Kongo Mountains, has inherited the family name of a powerful family from the Kofun period (Mid 3rd-7th century). It is a place of legend where it is said that there was a high heaven where the gods lived. Along the Katsuragi ancient road that runs along the foot of the mountain, there are numerous historic shrines and temples. You can enjoy the charm of Katsuragi not only by climbing mountains with magnificent views such as Mount Kongo and Mount Katsuragi, but also by taking a historical walk through temples, old streets, and elegant old towns.
