Kyoto Station
Kyoto Station is the gateway to Kyoto, one of Japan's major tourist destinations, and is used by 700,000 people every day. It takes about two hours from Tokyo by Shinkansen, and many trains connect it to neighboring tourist destinations such as Osaka, Nara, and Shiga. The station building, which opened in 1997, has a spacious atrium, a grand staircase, and many other features that help to enrich the time spent at the station.
Kyoto Station Area
Kyoto Station is the gateway to Kyoto, where the Shinkansen and other railroads depart and arrive. The landmark of the station is the open-air station building with its huge atrium and the uniquely shaped Kyoto Tower towering across from it. Although it is far from the center of the city, there are plenty of department stores, underground shopping malls, and sightseeing spots that can be reached on foot, such as Toji Temple, Sanjusangendo Temple, and Umekoji Park.
