Iriomote Island, Okinawa, Japan
Yubu Island
Yubu Island is a small island of about 2km in circumference floating 400m off the east coast of Iriomote Island, and the whole island is a subtropical botanical garden. The water between Iriomote Island and Yubu Island is shallow, only about 1 meter deep even at high tide, so we can come and go by a buffalo cart. It is a healing spot where you can listen to the folk songs sung by the old man driving the buffalo cart while playing the sanshin (three-stringed musical instrument), and spend a relaxing island time surrounded by the unique flora and fauna.
Iriomote Island
Iriomote Island is a treasure house of nature, with 90% of the island covered by subtropical virgin forest. There are many rivers flowing through the dense greenery, and vast mangrove forests have formed around the mouths of rivers. There are many activities here that allow visitors to fully enjoy nature. If you participate in snorkeling or trekking, you are sure to encounter precious plants and animals that are unique to this area.
