Bokty Mountain
Bokty Mountain stands alone on the vast Ustyurt Plateau in Mangystau Region, creating a striking scene against the open landscape. Rising in layered formations from the white earth, the mountain resembles an overturned ship and, from some angles, even a pyramid. Its vivid red and yellow strata make it one of the most photogenic spots on the Ustyurt Plateau, a region known for its extraordinary landforms.
Ustyurt Plateau
The Ustyurt Plateau stretches across Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It is a desert area of approximately 200,000 square kilometers, with cliffs more than 150 meters high on its periphery. The uplift of geological strata accumulated at the bottom of the sea in prehistoric times and weathering has created a variety of landforms. Camping tours are popular to visit miraculous and spectacular landscapes such as canyons that seem to cut through the earth and pure white rock peaks.
