Namhansanseong

Namhansanseong is a fortress built about 25 km southeast of Seoul to protect the capital city. The magnificent 9-km-long fortress walls that connect the peaks of 500-meter-high mountains and the towers used for military command still remain today. This ancient fortress, where you can enjoy both history and nature, is gaining popularity as a hiking spot that can be easily visited from Seoul.

Namhansanseong Provincial Park

Namhansanseong, one of the four major fortresses built during the Joseon Dynasty, is located in the mountains about 25 km southeast of Seoul. The area has been developed as a provincial park, and the walls and gates have been preserved in their original form, and are registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historical remains are surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains, and the area is crowded with hikers from Seoul during the fall foliage season.
