Kawainui Marsh
Kawainui Marsh, just west of the city of Kailua, is the largest wetland in the state of Hawaii, with rich soil that attracts waterfowl. Kawainui, which means "place of abundant water," was once used by the native people as a fishpond and farm. Now a treasure trove of precious flora and fauna, Kawainui Marsh is a pleasant place to stroll and provides another attraction to the fashionable tourist town of Kailua.
