Seoul, South Korea
Jonggak Downtown Area
The area around Jonggak Station on subway line 1 is a major shopping district with many restaurants and pubs. It is not so well known to tourists, but it is bustling with people on their way home from work and young locals every night. There are also streets lined with stalls selling accessories and clothing, making it a fun place to just walk around. Myeongdong, Insadong and other tourist spots are just a short walk away, so it is a good place to take a break after sightseeing.
Insadong, Jongno
Insadong, located in the center of Seoul, is an area with the aroma of culture, with hanok (traditional Korean houses) lined up along the alleys, stores selling antiques and traditional crafts, and art galleries. Just south of Insadong, along the main street that runs east-west, is Jongno, an old-fashioned shopping district with a variety of stores and taverns that is crowded with young locals until late at night.
