Museum of Victims of Repression
In the northern part of the city of Tashkent, near the soaring Tashkent Tower, is the Museum of Victims of Repression, which tells the story of Uzbekistan's modern history. This is the place where people who were wrongfully arrested due to political repression were once executed. The museum, which opened in 2002 on the site of what is now a beautiful park, serves to commemorate the victims and provide historical details for future generations.
Tashkent
Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, has carved its name in history as a stopover along the Silk Road. Today, Tashkent remains the largest city in Central Asia and is a multi-ethnic city with a population of Uzbeks, Russians, Tatars, and other ethnic groups. In addition to the old city with its beautiful Islamic architecture, including mosques and bazaars, the city is also popular among tourists for its plazas covered with lush greenery, which is characteristic of an oasis city, and its beautiful subway system, with its elaborate decorations that vary from station to station.
