Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
Standing majestically at the back of the vast, symmetrically designed grounds is the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, with its impressive white walls and octagonal roof. Built in 1980 as a memorial to the founder of the Republic of China, Chiang Kai-shek, the hall is a symbol of Taipei and a major tourist attraction. The hall is open to the public free of charge from early morning until late at night, making it a place of relaxation for tourists and locals alike, who can often be seen taking a leisurely stroll or doing tai chi.
Taipei Main Station Area
The area around Taipei Station, a major transportation hub connecting Taipei to other parts of the country, is home to many classic tourist attractions that evoke a sense of history, such as the President's Office and the museum, both of which are stately buildings from the Japanese colonial era, and the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, which commemorates Chiang Kai-shek, the founder of the Republic of China. There is no shortage of shopping and dining options, including the station building with its souvenir shops and food stalls, the underground shopping mall with its wide selection of goods, and the restaurants loved by the locals, so many people stay in this area as a base for sightseeing.
