Untertor Bridge

The Untertor Bridge is a historic stone bridge that connects the Old City of Bern, surrounded on three sides by the River Aare, to the outside world. Although there are currently 18 bridges across the Aare flowing through the city of Bern, until the mid-19th century, the Untertor Bridge was the only bridge that continued to support Bern's development. The three arches of the stone bridge, which still retains its medieval appearance, contrast beautifully with the clear water.

Bern

The capital of Switzerland, Bern, overlooking the Bernese Alps to the south, was founded at the end of the 12th century by Duke Berthold V of Zähringen on a small hill surrounded on three sides by the winding River Aare. The city's stone cathedral, clock tower, arcades, and numerous fountains decorated with ornate sculptures are all part of the medieval atmosphere of this World Heritage-listed city, which can be viewed from nearby Rose Garden.
