Bern, Switzerland
Nydegg Church
Nydegg Church is located at the tip of the Old City of Bern, which is like a peninsula surrounded by the River Aare. The church was built at the end of the 15th century and still retains its original appearance. The green-roofed steeple with a clock weaves an impressive landscape with the surrounding cityscape and the Aare. The church is a highlight of a stroll through the beautiful old town, and is a fascinating contrast to the majestic Bern Minster that stands nearby.
Bern
The capital of Switzerland, Bern, overlooking the Bernese Alps to the south, was founded at the end of the 12th century by Duke Berthold V of Zähringen on a small hill surrounded on three sides by the winding River Aare. The city's stone cathedral, clock tower, arcades, and numerous fountains decorated with ornate sculptures are all part of the medieval atmosphere of this World Heritage-listed city, which can be viewed from nearby Rose Garden.
