Kiyotaki River
The Kiyotaki River, with its source at Mount Sajikigatake, flows through the mountains for about 20 km until it joins the Hozu River. Mount Atago and Takao, which have flourished as summer resorts in the suburbs of Kyoto since ancient times, are located along this river. The path along the river is part of the Tokai Nature Trail, which is perfect for a stroll while enjoying the beauty of the valley and the fresh air. Each of the four seasons offers its own unique scenery: spring with fresh greenery, summer with cool waterside scenery, autumn with autumn leaves, and winter with snow-covered leaves.
Takao
Takao has been a famous place for autumn leaves since ancient times and has been written about in poetry. You can enjoy the contrast between the colored leaves of the historic temples and shrines, the Kiyotaki River, and the Kitayama cedars in the surrounding forest. It is also a valuable spot where you can enjoy the cool and refreshing atmosphere created by the river and the trees, and where Kawadoko is served in summer.
