Iriomote Island, Okinawa, Japan
Maira River
In the eastern part of Iriomote Island, the Maira River is located in front of the village of Komi. Looking over from Maira Bridge over the mouth of the river, you can feel the pristine subtropical nature of the river meandering upstream while narrowing its width, mangrove forests spreading on both sides of the river, and mountains in the distance. Canoeing is a popular activity on the calm river, even for beginners.
