Shirakawa Minami Dori
Along with Hanamikoji Dori, Shirakawa Minami Dori, located north of Shijo Dori, is one of the most famous streets in Gion, Kyoto's largest hanamachi. The stone-paved street stretches for about 200 meters along the Shirakawa River and is even more beautiful in spring, when it is decorated with cherry blossoms. The street, filled with the atmosphere of an ancient city, is always crowded with kimono-clad tourists.
Gion and Kiyomizu
Kiyomizu Temple, known for its "Kiyomizu-no-butai" (stage of Kiyomizu), and Gion, famous for its maiko (apprentice geisha). The area connecting these two world-famous tourist spots is full of attractions such as Kodaiji Temple, Yasaka Shrine, and Sannenzaka. The Kyoto-style streets are always crowded with kimono-clad tourists.
