Jubilee Bridge

The Jubilee Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that spans the mouth of the Singapore River. The bridge, which has a graceful curve and is 220 meters long, connects the Esplanade on the north bank with Merlion Park on the south bank. From the bridge, you can see famous tourist spots such as the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands, which symbolizes the Marina area, and the Singapore Flyer, the largest Ferris wheel in Asia.

The idea to build a new pedestrian bridge in place of the Esplanade Bridge, which had a narrow sidewalk and was often busy with traffic, came from Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's first prime minister. The bridge, which was built as part of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Singapore, was scheduled to open in April 2015, but it was opened a month early so that citizens could join the funeral procession for Lee, who passed away just before that date.

The Jubilee Bridge is part of the Jubilee Walk, which was established to commemorate Singapore's 50th anniversary. The 8km-long Jubilee Walk is a popular walking route for tourists, with spots along the way that tell the story of Singapore's history and culture. The beautiful night view of the bridge, which emerges from the glittering lights of the city and floats over Marina Bay, is also a highlight.
