Shirakoma Pond
Shirakoma Pond, located between Maruyama and Shirakoma Peak in Kita-Yatsugatake, is well known for the beautiful moss forest surrounding it and the autumn leaves reflected on the surface of the lake. It is the largest natural lake in Japan located at an altitude of more than 2,100 meters above sea level, with a circumference of 1.35 kilometers, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll while gazing at the crystal clear water. With a national highway nearby, it is a valuable spot where you can enjoy the rich nature of the high mountains without having to climb mountains.
Yatsugatake
Located in the southeastern part of Nagano Prefecture, Yatsugatake is a volcanic group of 2,000-meter-high mountains stretching about 30 kilometers from north to south. While some mountains offer a leisurely walk along gentle mountain paths while enjoying the beautiful scenery of mossy coniferous forests and lakes, others offer a dynamic view of rugged rocky terrain, providing a variety of mountain climbing courses that satisfy both beginners and experts.
