Berenty Reserve
The Berenty Reserve, located in the southern part of Madagascar, about 80 km west of Tolanaro, is a private reserve where a variety of animals, including the endemic lemur, turtles, lizards, and wild birds, live in the rich forest. As you stroll along the boardwalk, you can observe a variety of animals walking close by or looking down at you from the trees. Accommodations are available in the reserve, and night safaris are popular for observing the nocturnal lemurs and owls.
Tolanaro
Tolanaro, the main city in southeastern Madagascar, is a port city facing the Indian Ocean, first settled by the French in the 17th century, and called Fort Dauphin in French after the fort that was built there. The charm of this city is the scenic view of the coastline with its beautiful white sand beaches and the mountains rising behind. The city attracts many tourists as a gateway to the popular Berenty Reserve and other natural beauty spots.
