Lisbon Metropolitan Area, Portugal
Tagus River
The Tagus River flows from east to west through the center of the Iberian Peninsula. It originates in the Montes Universales of Spain and traverses the peninsula for approximately 1,000 km before pouring into the Atlantic Ocean in Portugal. With many tributaries, the river has the second largest basin area on the Iberian Peninsula. Its coastline is a colorful landscape of beautiful nature reserves, agricultural areas, and cities such as Toledo and Lisbon.
Lisbon
Located on the north bank of the mouth of the Tagus river, Lisbon is the capital of Portugal, one of the most historic cities in Europe. The city is made up of valleys and hills, and is lined with historical buildings from various periods and rustic houses in pastel colors. The nostalgic atmosphere is created by retro streetcars running along winding hills and azulejo-tiled walls. The mild climate and delicious gourmet food are also secrets to the cozy feeling.
