Cape Nokkamappu
Cape Nokkamappu is located on the northern side of the center of the Nemuro Peninsula, and from here you can see Kunashir Island across Nemuro Bay. Unlike Cape Nosappu, the easternmost point of Japan at the tip of the Nemuro Peninsula, Cape Nokkamappu is not a tourist spot, so it is a rare place where you can have the whole place to yourself. The striking scenery created by the deep blue sky and sea, the green land, and the lighthouse standing alone in the distance, is sure to captivate the hearts of visitors.
Nemuro
The Nemuro Peninsula juts out to the far east of Hokkaido. There are many places of interest to visit, including Cape Nosappu, which overlooks the Habomai Islands, Lake Furen, which attracts many wild birds, Shunkokutai, a vast sandbar, and the Chashi Sites, which were once the site of Ainu rituals. The area is also known as a treasure trove of seafood, including the famous spiny king crab, salmon and saury, and is a popular destination for road trips where you can enjoy nature, culture and food.
