Takamatsu Park
Takamatsu Park is located approximately 2 km north of central Morioka. A promenade has been built around Takamatsu Pond and is planted with cherry blossoms and other seasonal plants and trees. The 1.4-km promenade is perfect for a leisurely walk while enjoying the changing scenery of trees, birds gathering by the water, and the beautiful majestic view of Mount Iwate. The park is a favorite recreational spot for citizens who enjoy jogging, walking, and admiring the seasonal flowers.
Morioka
Morioka, located in the Kitakami Basin overlooking the splendid Mount Iwate, has carved its history as a city since the Heian period (794-1192). Morioka has flourished as the administrative, economic, and transportation center of Iwate Prefecture. It offers many attractions such as colorful streets with historic sites from the castle town period and retro buildings from the Meiji era (1868-1912), and spots related to Takuboku Ishikawa and Kenji Miyazawa, who are associated with this area. There is also a wide variety of local delicacies such as Wanko soba and Reimen.
