Miedo

Miedo is one of the halls that make up the Danjo Garan, the core of Koyasan. It was originally a Jibutsudo where Kukai worshipped on a daily basis, but later became known as Miedo when the portrait of Kobo-Daishi was enshrined there. With its beautiful tented cypress bark roof, the hall has a quiet and solemn atmosphere. The sanctuary, one of the best in Koyasan, is open to the public once a year on the eve of the "Kyu-sho-mieku" festival.

Koyasan

Koyasan was established by Kukai in 816 as a place for Zen practice. Koyasan, the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, was built in the basin surrounded by mountains, and has been worshipped as a holy place to this day. In addition to visiting the temples, visitors can stay in lodgings to experience ascetic practices, taste vegetarian cuisine, and have other valuable experiences.
